It  rappresents one of the most  important works of the late european Neoclassicism . in the first half of the nineteenth century some rich persons of Macerata wanted to provided the city of  a permanent structure   for the game of  the ball with the armlet and in the same time an arena for the  ’steccato’, the  hunt to the taurus, the  tauromachy very popular into the Papal States.

The building has been planed in the 1823 from the polyhedric neoclssic architect  Ireneo Aleandri (planer, also, of the  viaduct of the 'Ariccia and of the New Theatre of Spoleto).
